Where Nudie Jeans comes from
Nudie Jeans says it started its journey in the Swedish city of Gothenburg in 2001. Its about page frames the business around a “wear-and-tear philosophy”: jeans designed to live as long as their owner, getting better with age, “forever jeans” you repair rather than replace. The range covers jeans in several fits, denim shirts and jackets, tees, sweatshirts, knitwear and accessories, sold online and through its own repair shops, including stores in New York and Los Angeles.
What Nudie Jeans stands for
The brand points to organic cotton and transparent processes as part of its Swedish roots, and its product pages list the fabric, fit, wash and country of manufacture for each piece. Our featured items are made in Tunisia, Portugal and Turkey, which fits a brand that does not tie its range to one factory. Product pages also show a per-item footprint, with figures for CO2 emissions and water use. It runs a repair service, a re-use programme and a members’ club called c/o Nudie Jeans, whose members get a longer return window. The pages we read give no certifications beyond a GOTS label on its wool sweater. We haven’t tested any of the products.
