Where Davines comes from
Davines was founded in Parma, Italy, in 1983 by the Bollati family. It began as a research laboratory making high-end hair care for cosmetic companies, and after a decade it started selling its own Davines hair care exclusively through salons. International distribution began in 1994, a New York branch opened in 2004, and the group now says it sells in more than 90 countries. The company is still led by Davide Bollati, who is named as President and Owner, from its Davines Village campus in Parma. The brand sells shampoos, conditioners, masks, oils, serums and styling products, grouped into lines such as OI, Essential Haircare, More Inside and Naturaltech.
What Davines stands for
Davines has been a certified B Corp since 2016, and its pages report scores of 99.3 in 2016, 117.4 in 2020 and 123.5 in 2023, against a minimum of 80. It calls its approach sustainable beauty, and says it works with regenerative organic agriculture, including a research centre run with the Rodale Institute in Parma. Product pages show details such as the share of natural-origin and biodegradable ingredients (the NOUNOU Shampoo lists 88.5% and 97.4%) and mark many products as vegan friendly. It does not say on the pages we read where each product is made. We haven’t tested any of the products.
