Where Skall Studio comes from
Skall Studio is a Copenhagen womenswear label started in 2014 by sisters Julie and Marie Skall. Their surname means “shell” in English, a nod to their grandfather, who earned the family name collecting seashells on the beaches of northern Denmark. The brand describes its vision as curiosity approaching eccentricity by way of Scandinavian pragmatism, and each season as a cabinet of curiosities of pieces meant to be lived in. It makes knitwear, denim, shirts, blouses, dresses, tailoring, outerwear, shoes and bags, sold online and through two stores in Copenhagen and Frederiksberg.
What Skall Studio stands for
Skall Studio names womanhood, craftsmanship, creativity, family, everyday life and responsibility as its core values. On materials, it says it aims to work only with plant fibres such as cotton, linen and wool, and prefers single-fibre fabrics where possible because they are easier to recycle. Its wool outerwear and much of its tailoring use 100% recycled wool from Italian supplier Manteco. Its denim is 100% organic, GOTS-certified cotton made in Turkey, and most cotton and linen styles come from a GOTS-certified factory in Delhi. Knitwear is described as made in Denmark since the start, with wool spun by Hjelholt, a family-run Danish mill operating since 1878. Individual product pages show a mix of production countries, including Italy, Turkey, Bulgaria and India. We haven’t tested any of the products.

Ordering from the US
Skall Studio runs a dedicated US store and says all prices there include taxes and duties. Delivery is UPS Express to your home: free on orders above $150 and $16 below that, with regular service outside Europe taking roughly 2 to 8 business days after dispatch. Orders placed before noon (Copenhagen time) are generally packed the same business day. Its general delivery text also says customers outside the EU pay local duties on receipt, which conflicts with the US-specific line, so check at checkout. You have 14 days to return an order using a prepaid UPS label created on its returns platform, with a $20 handling fee deducted from the refund. Refunds go back to the original payment method and usually show up within 2 to 7 working days. Exchanges aren’t offered, so you return the item and place a new order, and items from different orders must be sent back separately. Its pages don’t state a condition requirement for returns.
