Where Cecilie Bahnsen comes from
Cecilie Bahnsen returned to Copenhagen in 2015 to launch her eponymous label, after studying at the Danish Design School and the Royal College of Art and working for John Galliano and Erdem. The brand says it operates at the intersection of couture and ready-to-wear, combining the traditions of French fashion with Scandinavian design culture, and that its unique fabrics are hand-designed in her Copenhagen studio. It grew from a basement office to a team of more than 30 in the Østerbro neighbourhood, and has shown on the Paris Fashion Week calendar since FW22. The range is mostly dresses, skirts and tops, plus knitwear, outerwear, shoes and bridal pieces.
What Cecilie Bahnsen stands for
The brand describes itself as independently owned, and its pages emphasise femininity, romance, movement and clothes to keep and pass on. On responsibility it says it works with craftspeople in Europe to preserve century-old techniques and wants a traceable value chain. It was awarded the Butterfly Mark by Positive Luxury in September 2021, and says all suppliers sign a code of conduct that allows announced and unannounced audits. The pages we read give no certification figures and do not state where its clothes are made, and some pieces use synthetic fibres such as recycled polyester and polyamide. We haven’t tested any of the products.

Cecilie Bahnsen ships worldwide from its warehouse in Denmark with DHL Express. The shipping page lists rest-of-world delivery at €25 in about 2 to 8 business days, and free shipping on orders over €1,500, with prices shown in euros there. For the US it offers Delivery Duty Paid, meaning import duties, taxes and brokerage fees, including recent US tariffs, are covered by the brand, though customs may still ask for an SSN, EIN or declaration of intended use. You can return unworn items with tags within 30 days of receipt, with a €25 fee per returned order, and you are responsible for the parcel until it arrives. Refunds go to the original payment method within 14 days of receipt, and exchanges are free. Made-to-order, custom, personalized and final-sale items cannot be returned, and returns outside the EU need a commercial invoice, which is attached to the return label.
