Where Brunello Cucinelli comes from
Brunello Cucinelli began in 1978 in Solomeo, a small medieval hamlet in Umbria, and the company still runs from there. Its origins page says the founder decided at 25 to make colored cashmere sweaters, only for women, in line with contemporary style, aimed at what he calls absolute luxury. The brand now makes knitwear, tailoring, outerwear, bags and shoes for women and men, and its online boutique ships directly from Solomeo. Its investor site reports revenues of €1.41 billion for 2025 and 136 directly operated boutiques. Product pages say each piece is designed in Solomeo.
What Brunello Cucinelli stands for
The brand’s FAQ says all of its products are made in Italy. It ties its identity to what it calls humanistic capitalism: its pages say employees don’t clock in and aren’t expected to be online for work after hours or at weekends, and that it wants salaries slightly above average, especially for blue-collar staff. In 2013 it opened the Solomeo School of Style and High Craftsmanship, which teaches crafts such as pattern making and tailoring and pays students a monthly scholarship. On cashmere, it points to its Himalayan Regenerative Fashion Living Lab, a project with the Changpa people of Ladakh that has produced its first Himalayan Cashmere scarves. We haven’t tested any of the products.

Ordering from the US
Brunello Cucinelli runs a US online boutique with prices in US dollars, and its terms say the site is owned and operated by Brunello Cucinelli S.p.A. in Italy. Orders ship from Solomeo by DHL Express Worldwide, usually within 5 working days. Its product pages say shipping is always free, and the delivery address must match the country site you order from. It doesn’t ship to P.O. boxes, APO or FPO addresses. US sales tax is estimated at checkout, and the FAQ says the price shown at checkout is final with no additional fees, though the pages don’t use the word duties. You have 30 days from delivery to request a return or exchange, with free courier pickup through the online return form or a return in a boutique. Items must be unworn, with tags and original packaging, and must go back from the same country within 15 days of receiving the return authorization. Refunds follow once the item is checked, generally within 14 days of receipt. Fragrances can’t be shipped back as returns.
