Where A.P.C. comes from
A.P.C., short for Atelier de Production et de Création, was founded in Paris in 1987 by Jean Touitou. The brand describes itself as offering timeless, long-lasting pieces for people who want quality, authenticity and charisma, built on simplicity, durability and versatility, with a touch of irreverence. Its denim and the Demi-Lune bag are the pieces it points to as proof of its commitment to quality and detail. In 2019 it launched “Interactions”, a series of collaborative collections with musicians, designers and other brands. The range covers jeans, outerwear, knitwear, shirts, t-shirts, bags, shoes and accessories, sold online, in its stores and at a surplus store in New York.
What A.P.C. stands for
A.P.C. names authenticity, transparency, belonging and sustainability as its core values. Its manifesto says it has long believed in longevity and circularity, offering second-hand pieces and repurposing deadstock fabric, and that in 2023 it set science-based decarbonization targets and began building eco-design into its products. It runs circular programs such as recycling and a denim “butler” repair program, and publishes a CSR report. Many product pages list recycled or organic cotton, but the pages we read don’t say where the clothes are made. We haven’t tested any of the products.

Ordering from the US
The A.P.C. North America site ships to residential and business addresses in the US and Canada only, and does not ship to P.O. boxes or APO/DPO/military addresses. UPS Ground costs $10 and is free on US orders of $350 or more, with a signature-required option for $15 and UPS Next Day for $50 if you order by 12pm EST. Store pickup is free. The brand says duties and taxes are included in the price for Canadian orders, and the US site is a domestic one, so no import charges are mentioned for US orders. You have 14 days from receipt to return full-price or sale items, unworn and in their original packaging, for a refund or an exchange. Online returns by mail use a prepaid UPS label with a $10 restock fee per label, while returns to any US A.P.C. store are free. Items marked final sale can’t be returned, and refunds are initiated within 4 to 10 days.
